You could go through a huge number of alkalines, so rechargable might be advisable. If they are only to be used for training purposes you could consider running off batteries, changing them when flat. If it does not look like it plugs in, and the handset needs a cradle to charge, forget it, as I don't even know if you have a budget, and consider plan B. Try it out one one that is lacking in some way, and see if it charges 4 rechargeable AAA batteries. If it looks to fit you could purchase one for proof of concept.
